Anwar Zahid, PhD, PE
Dr. Zahid has more than 19 years of experience in the civil/structural engineering field, including work on highly complex projects with a total estimated construction cost of more than $3 billion. His expertise encompasses floating steel gates, steel sector gates, vertical lift gates, closure gates, pump stations, concrete T-walls for flood protection, levees for flood protection, stability of dams and complex foundation design. He also has significant experience in transportation projects including bridges (river crossings, overpasses, rail bridges, prestressed-precast concrete girders, steel plate girders, curved steel plate girders, pier design, column and pile bent design, and bridge load ratings in LFR and LRFR); retaining walls; culverts; sign structures; structural inspections; and forensic analysis. His roles and responsibilities have included project management; task management; leading project engineering teams; cost estimating; teaching; preparing publications; and serving as engineer of record, technical reviewer, lead presenter for complex engineering projects, and responsible engineer for quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC). Dr. Zahid has experience in national and international projects. He is pre-certified by TXDOT in many categories and is a Certified Project Manager (CPM) for Federal and Non-Federal projects.
